Rebuked, But OK With It

Revelation 3:19  “The people I love, I call to account—prod and correct and guide so that they’ll live at their best. Up on your feet, then! About face! Run after God!

No one likes to be corrected, especially those of us who have gotten into adult stage and have gotten used to be the ones doing the correcting.  It's difficult to read the verse above and really embrace it, yet, it's the same thing we told our children when we disciplined them.  Remember, "this hurts me more than it does you?" Or how about this one, "I'm doing this for your benefit?"

Your children gave you that same look that we give to Jesus, when He does the same thing mentioned in vs. 19.  And who better to be able to say this but Him?  After all, He really does know best, he created BEST.  He is the best.

If we didn't have the prodding of a loving Savior we could end up on the lower end of a steep cliff, simply due to our human error.  Even with the prodding, we still have issue due to our pride. We have to understand that Jesus loves us with an everlasting love and He cares about our success.  Not a material success, but success as human being.  Successful with our relationships, successful with our calling in Christ Jesus, successful in fulfilling the Great Commission.

So, the next time you get corrected by the Master, be thankful.  He doesn't have to correct you, but He wants to and He's willing to tell you the truth.
